Trailing of the Sheep Festival celebrates the Basque sheep herding culture in Idaho. With thousands of visitors enjoying events from sheep dog trials, Folk Life Fair and ethnic food tastings, artists will have lots of opportunities for colorful plein air painting. Trailing of the Sheep has been named in the Top Ten Fall Festivals in the World.
Friday-Ketchum restaurants will host free roasted lamb bites; Saturday– a Folk Life Fair including the Plein Air Painters of Idaho tent at McKertcher Park (Hailey, ID ref. Google map link below) will give you the opportunity to sell your plein air paintings; Sunday– Blessing of the Sheep Parade through Ketchum at noon.

Friday, October 6th
PAPI – PAINT OUT
We will find the herds of sheep, which are usually north and/or east of town, to paint late morning/early afternoon.

PAPI MEMBERS set up our Tent on FRIDAY 3:00PM
(We need volunteers to help with tent setup, and help in the booth on SAT)
NO SETUP OF ARTWORK on Friday( bring it Sat am.)
“FOR THE LOVE OF LAMB” Event
Ketchum: Free Lamb tasting in various KETCHUM restaurants

FOLK LIFE FAIR – Event. This runs from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm, at Roberta McKercher Park, at the south end of HAILEY

Bring your Paintings to our PAPI Tent, From 8:30 am – 9:30 am for setup and display.
QUICK DRAW EVENT
Will be from 11 :30 am – 1:30 pm (if we have enough people participating) with Prize money this year for awards!!
PEOPLE’S CHOICE VOTING
Will be from 1:30- 2:30 pm – awards at 3:00 pm
Will Pack up tent and all art work at 4:00 pm
