My goal as an artist is to create an impression of the subject matter not duplication. The Impressionists have influenced me with their use of color and their love of painting outdoors (of which I have participated in for the past 11 years). Lively colors are an expression of my joy. I paint with emotion, not mechanical technique. For me, art is not akin to a mathematical equation i.e. 1 part red to 2 parts blue. Colors are to flow freely from the mind’s eye through the tip of the brush. Nature and imagination are thus melded together in the process.
Academic Studies and history: Graduate of Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles, CA Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biology with an emphasis on Pre-Med. I excelled in art classes. Graduate of Cypress College, Cypress, CA. Attended the Honors program at Millsaps College, Jackson, MS. Studied at California State University at Fullerton. Born in Santa Monica, CA with many pleasant memories of living near the ocean along with yearly travels across the Southern portion of the United States. Presently living in beautiful Idaho since 1994. Have made several trips abroad. All of which have strongly affected my art. Living in the country has given me the opportunity of waking up each morning to sunlit pastures, foothills and mountains views giving me a deep respect for life dependent on nature itself. Mother Nature has been a central figure in my life from early childhood and will always remain in my heartfelt artwork.
