Nadene Kranz_SELF_20131024_800x1422An Idaho-based visual artist, Nadene Kranz divides her time between her Idaho studio and the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC. From prairie scenes of her childhood home in Montana to the museums she has visited, she has expanded her sources of inspiration to include artists within American Impressionism and the Baroque period.

Ms. Kranz was instrumental in developing the arts in North Dakota, coordinating an exhibit of $4.5 million of Western art from two leading museums, Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City and CM Russell Museum in Great Falls, MT. She also worked to develop Elan gallery into one of the top galleries in North Dakota becoming its first director. She was recognized by the Governor for her efforts in art education for children in expanding their summer program by securing grants and donations.

Currently, Nadene is in the Copyist program at the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC. Part ambassador, part teacher, she notes that the program allows her close-up views of famous art which is a lesson unto itself. She is also an active Boise member of Plein Air Painters of Idaho and co-organizer of their Meetup.com site.
