Kevin is influenced by western artists such as Maynard Dixon and Guy Rose. Born and raised in the American West, Kevin has an intense love of the western landscape. Kevin paints the places that evoke the feelings of somber beauty that embodies the west.
“There is a sense of solitude and sometimes loneliness to the vast panoramas of the Western landscape,” Kevin says. “There’s a rugged beauty that I really am drawn to, whether it’s the low Sonora deserts of Arizona, the canyon lands of Utah, the coastlines of California, or the high alpine mountains of Idaho and Wyoming. I love the north and southwest and all its many variations. It never fails to inspire me. I find more beauty in the majestic tall pines of Idaho than in any of the great cathedrals of Europe.”
Kevin has been a working artist for 20 years both as a commercial illustrator and a fine art painter. He has painted for magazines, book covers and children’s books, but Kevin always returns to painting the landscape. He has painted in many styles some whimsical, some editorial, though mostly realism with some photo realism, but he always returns to Impressionism. Kevin loves color and enjoys using colors to engage the viewer. Creating the illustration of light to brighter his viewers day and hopefully, just maybe, enlighten their mind.
