Harry Miller is an Idaho native who has hiked, camped, fly-fished, and resided in Idaho for over 60 years. His outdoor experiences and life in Idaho have inspired his compositions that utilize variations of light and naturally occurring colors.
Harry was born in Twin Falls, Idaho, in 1947 and spent his early days there exploring the rock canyons of Southern Idaho. Completing dental school in Chicago provided Harry with the exposure to a metropolitan city and an opportunity to contrast life in the city to Idaho’s expansive and natural physical beauty.
Harry’s earliest works were landscape oils and he has continued to focus his work on nature with impressionistic portrayals of Idaho’s panoramic mountains, canyons, and rivers. Regarding his work, he reflects, “Light – it’s all about the phenomenon of light and how it changes through the day.” During the early morning and late evening, he seeks out the most dramatic light transitions to inspire his paintings. Harry resides in Eagle, Idaho, and paints plein air and also in his studio in Garden City.
