Catherine Wagner

I have always felt the need to be creating something beautiful, peaceful and serene; whether it be painting, knitting, or gardening. Cues from nature spark ideas and I get excited about painting a beautiful scene or designing garments to knit. I work mainly in transparent watercolor but enjoy colored pencil for my still life’s and make acrylic paste papers for my hand bound books.

Since 2001, living in an small town in the San Juan Mountains of southern Colorado, I took classes in nature drawing and watercolor painting; soon after I began exhibiting my work locally. During that time, I had the opportunity to stay in Tucson for several weeks in the winter where I enjoyed painting the Sonoran desert.

My paintings include plein air scenes from the mountains and canyons of northern New Mexico, southern Colorado, Utah and Arizona. Having recently moved to Boise, I look forward to exploring the area and finding new locations to paint!
