I have claimed to be an artist from an early age when I helped myself to my mothers art supplies and created. Growing up in Central Montana allowed me to appreciate the landscape and see the beauty in it. I have studied with some great teachers like Elizabeth Mowery and Lorenzo Chavez. Much of my work style comes from experimenting with different papers and mediums. I am partial to pastels and oils because they give me the brilliant color I seek and the texture I need to tell my story on canvas or paper.
I am a signature member of the Northwest Pastel Society, a member of the Pastel Society of the West Coast, Treasure Valley Art Alliance, the Blue Buffalo Artists, and Landscape Artists International. Recent shows include The Western Art RoundUp at WaterWorks Art Museum, the Clymer Art Museum (solo), Columbia Center for the Arts, Lewistown Art Center, the Mondak Heritage Center, Wenaha Gallery solo exhibit and Pendleton Art and Frame 2 person show. I participate in the Heart of the West Shows at the Coeur d’Alene Resort and Bozeman, MT sites.
See my work at http://www.bonniegriffith.com and on Facebook at Bonnie Griffith Landscaped Artist.
I am an invited artist for Art in the Beartooths, Red Lodge, MT and one of 20+ artists painting in the Columbia Gorge PLEIN Air event in Hood River. I was the selected artist in residence at the Grand Staircase National Monument in UT, painting the area and working with the local school system in the education of the arts for the month of September on behalf of the Bureau of Land Management in 2015.
Using mediums rich in pigment, I strive to create work that engages the viewer and entices them look into that painting and make it their own story. If that happens, then I have achieved my goal. Work is done in oils, pastel and encaustic mediums.
I live and work in my studio in Meridian, ID and in plein air wherever I might be. Galleries in MT, WA, OR, ID represent my work. A complete list is available on my website.
